A lot was riding on the north London derby this weekend. Some poor results in recent weeks had seen Tottenham's title challenge fade, instead bringing them into a battle for the top four.In contrast, Arsenal have been in good form in recent weeks and were just four points behind their fierce rivals at the start of play. They knew a win would move them just one point behind Mauricio Pochettino's team. And they managed to take the lead early on in the derby, with Aaron Ramsey netting after 16 minutes.

But they were pegged back with 15 minutes of normal time remaining as Harry Kane struck home from the penalty spot.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a golden chance to take all three points, but his spot-kick was kept out by Hugo Lloris.

Lucas Torreira was then sent off in the dying minutes for a high tackle on Danny Rose.

It really was a drama-filled game.

Harry Kane was offside just before he was brought down for Spurs' penalty and Aubameyang looked to have gone down easily for Arsenal's spot-kick.

But, while Arsenal ended the game with 10 men, there is an argument that Tottenham should have had a man sent off themselves.

Davinson Sanchez appeared to kick out at Laurent Koscielny during stoppage time.

Watch it below:

He is a very, very lucky boy. Props to Koscielny for not making a meal out of it.

Fortunately for Sanchez, Anthony Taylor did not see the incident and thus no action was taken.

But football fans now want the Colombian defender to be retrospectively banned.

Of course, if VAR was in use both penalties would not have been given, while Sanchez may have been given his marching orders.

Unai Emery claimed after the game that the introduction of VAR would be 'positive for football in England'.

"Today for me, the referees were a big personality but it's not enough to make the best decision in difficult action in the box, for them and for us," he said after the match, per Eurosport.

"I think VAR is coming to help them to be fair for one match like today.

"It's very difficult for them to watch in the moment one action like that. VAR is coming to help them to be fair for this decision. And I think it's positive for football in England."
