Barcelona managed to come out on top once again in the second Clasico of the week.

The Catalan giants dumped their fierce rivals out of the Copa del Rey in midweek, winning 3-0.

Luis Suarez scored twice and Raphael Varane put the ball in his own net in what was an embarrassing day for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid would have wanted to get revenge for that defeat and they started much better on Saturday evening.

However, they still fell behind in the 26th minute.

Sergi Roberto played a through ball for Ivan Rakitic to run onto, and the Croatian midfielder produced a cheeky dink past Thibaut Courtois to give the away side the lead.

There would be no further goals, meaning Barcelona extend their lead over Real Madrid in La Liga to 12 points.

The game burst into life in the final moments of the first half.

Ramos nicked the ball away from Messi just before he could tackle him, but as the Spaniard went by his flailing arm caught Messi in the face.

Messi stayed down but, after Ramos confronted him, he then got up and squared up to his opponent.

Of course, Ramos has a history for these type of moments.

For example, he was widely criticised for the challenge that injured Mo Salah in the Champions League final.

And many Barcelona fans think he intentionally elbowed Messi.

Jose Mourinho was working as a pundit for BeIN Sports and he gave his view on the incident.

The Portuguese thinks Ramos did it with the intention of creating a 'different temperature'.

"He probably does it with the intention of creating a different temperature for the second half because the game until now was really soft," he said.

Mourinho then said he didn't think Ramos should have been carded for the incident.

"For me it's not a red card at all, it's probably not even a yellow card," he continued."I think he comes with a different aggression because he wants to change something that is wrong."
