Gerard Pique dribbled across his own box while under pressure from Karim Benzema in El Clasico

Gerard Pique was sublime in Saturday's Clasico

Barcelona will be delighted with their week's work after defeating Real Madrid twice in the space of four days.

Ernesto Valverde's side defeated their fierce rivals 3-0 in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and followed that up with a 1-0 win in La Liga on Saturday.

Ivan Rakitic's goal proved to be the difference as Barcelona opened up a 12-point lead over their rivals in the race for the La Liga title.

One man who was phenomenal on the evening was Gerard Pique.

The Spanish defender was a rock throughout as Barcelona kept a clean sheet once again at the Bernabeu.

Pique is not just known for being a solid defender; he is also technically proficient and highly confident with the ball at his feet.

And he showed those traits in the final 10 minutes against Real Madrid.

With Barcelona holding a slender lead with eight minutes of normal time remaining, Pique found himself in his own box and under pressure from Karim Benzema.

But, instead of clearing the ball, Pique showed outrageous confidence by dribbling across his own box.

He eventually gave away a corner but, despite the poor outcome, it was still an incredible display of confidence from the 32-year-old.

In his post-match interview, Pique explained that he 'loves' playing at the Bernabeu.

"The results show that we feel good when we come here," he said, per Sport. "I love coming here. This is why I'm a professional, to play games like this in this atmosphere. It can de difficult to motivate yourself for other games."

Pique then insisted he gets on well with Real Madrid players but that sometimes doesn't translate on the pitch.

"Don't misunderstand the intensity," he added. "I get on really well with [Real Madrid's players]. It's mutual.

"We have a lot of contact with each other but when we step over the white line we defend out own team's colours."
