This past week has been a huge week of returns for the WWE, as four superstars returned to action on either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live.

On Raw, Roman Reigns came back and announced that he would be returning to the ring now that his cancer is in remission. Batista returned to the company as well during the show's main event.

On SmackDown, Kevin Owens made a return to the WWE and took Kofi Kingston's place in the WWE Championship match at Fastlane. Later on in the night, Matt Hardy returned to the ring for the first time in months to wrestle alongside his brother Jeff.

However, if reports are to be believed, this won't be the end of the returns WWE has in store for the time being.

According to the Wrestling Observer, via Cageside Seats, an angle will be shot on Raw this week that will reunite The Shield.

The Shield hasn't been seen together as a group since Reigns' leukaemia announcement back in October last year.

The moment where Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose did their iconic fist bump at the top of the stage before The Big Dog left to battle cancer is the last image WWE fans have right now of The Hounds of Justice together as a group.

On that same night, Ambrose turned heel and attacked Rollins in the middle of the ring, meaning The Shield once again split up.

When Reigns returned to WWE last week though, Rollins was the first superstar to greet him at the top of the ramp, reuniting those two. Later on in the night, the two would save Ambrose from an attack by Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Elias.

However, this wasn't an official Shield reunion, as The Big Dog and The Architect didn't hang around to help The Lunatic Fringe back onto his feet, as they left him in the middle of the ring.

Yet, if the reports are to be believed, WWE fans will not have to wait much longer to see all members of The Hounds of Justice back together, as they're expected to reunite this week on Raw.

This reunification of The Shield is likely taking place in preparation of one of two speculated multi-man matches taking place at Fastlane next weekend.

The two rumoured Fastlane matches are The Shield vs Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin, or The Shield and Braun Strowman vs Lashley, McIntyre, Corbin, and Elias.
