Mario Balotelli remains one of the most pulverising characters in football today and to say he's moved around Europe a bit would be an understatement. He's played for some of the biggest clubs during his career, with varying degrees of success, including both Milan clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool. After scoring 43 goals in 76 games for Nice, whom he joined in 2016, Balotelli joined fellow Ligue 1 club Marseille in January until the end of the 2018-19 season. He came off the bench to score on his debut in a 2-1 loss to Lille and has been a pretty decent signing so far - but he turned things up a notch on Sunday night. Not only did the centre-forward score a super goal to give his new team the lead against Saint-Etienne, he then produced a simply outrageous 'selfie' celebration.

Balotelli scores stunner, then takes 'selfie video'

Rudi Garcia included Balotelli in his starting XI as fourth played fifth at the Orange Velodrome, with Valere Germain, Lucas Ocampos and the top-class Florian Thauvin supporting him in attack.

It only took Balotelli 12 minutes to make an impact as he pulled off a stunning acrobatic kick to fire Thauvin's corner past Stephane Ruffier and into the back of the net.

Then came the incredible scenes.  After scoring, the 28-year-old immediately ran towards the side of the pitch, where a cameraman handed him a mobile phone.

Whilst Balotelli set up the video, his Marseille teammates gathered around him, and when he was ready, he captured his goal celebrations on the aforementioned phone.

If that wasn't enough, footage has emerged of Balotelli's celebration from his angle, meaning he could've taken the video live or already uploaded it to one of his social media accounts.

In that video, shown below, you can hear the jubilant cries of the Marseille players as well as see the supporters on their feet in the background.

The mercurial Italian international, who's already put his goal on his Instagram story, never fails to surprise us and this latest moment is almost sure to make headlines around the world.

Marseille began Sunday evening fifth in Ligue 1, but Thauvin's penalty to make it 2-0 means they're set to leapfrog their opponents St-Etienne into fourth place.
