Gareth Bale is enduring a tough time at Real Madrid right now.

The Welshman has never really won over the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu and he has bore the brunt of their frustration following back-to-back defeats to Barcelona.

Bale was named in the starting line-up for Saturday’s El Clasico but he was replaced on the hour mark after managing just 20 touches.

The home crowd made their feelings clear by jeering the 29-year-old off.

Spanish publication Marca have since reported that Bale didn’t even wait until the game had finished before heading home. He sat on the bench with Marcelo for a few minutes and then headed to the dressing room before making his departure.

It seems highly likely that Bale will leave Real Madrid in the summer. Not only has he lost the support of the fans, but his relationship with his teammates isn’t great either.

Thibaut Courtois and Marcelo have both questioned Bale’s behaviour off the pitch, citing his preference to play golf instead of bonding with the team.

Real Madrid players surprised by Bale's inclusion

And it turns out that many Real players don’t believe in Bale’s ability on the pitch.

Per Marca, the majority of the group didn’t understand why Santiago Solari included the Wales international in his starting line-up on Saturday.

Bale’s previous start in La Liga before Saturday came on February 3, so it was a surprise to see him named among the starters against Barcelona.

He was unable to repay Solari for showing faith in him, though, as Los Blancos succumbed to their eighth defeat in the league this season.

Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal of the game to effectively end Real’s hopes of winning the Spanish title.

The Madrid outfit are now 12 points behind the Blaugrana with 12 games remaining.
