The online boxing editor for talkSPORT.com Michael Benson has run a poll on his official Twitter page, asking who Dillian Whyte’s next opponent should be.The tweet read: “With Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale looking likely, who do you want to see Dillian Whyte face when he returns on July 13th in London? #LazySundayBoxingPoll."The four names listed on the poll consisted of the German Manuel Charr, the Cuban Luis Ortiz, the Russian Alexander Povetkin and the Brit Lawrence Okolie. The poll finished with 4,764 votes, with Ortiz receiving 55% of those. This puts ‘King Kong’ well ahead of Lawrence Okolie, who was the next highest with 24%.It will come as no surprise to most boxing fans that Ortiz topped the list, with the 39-year-old and Whyte having an interesting history.During the build-up to Whyte’s latest fight with Chisora, he challenged the Cuban to fight him, something which Ortiz accepted. However, promoter Eddie Hearn stepped in, saying that a fight between Whyte and Chisora made more sense.Whyte defeated Chisora with a knockout in the 11th round, whilst Ortiz dispatched Travis Kauffman during an impressive display.

Following Ortiz’s fight, he then called out Wilder, who dealt the Cuban the only loss of his professional boxing career to date back in March 2018.

A potential clash between Whyte and Wilder had also been on the cards following Wilder’s draw with Tyson Fury.

However, it is looking unlikely that Wilder will be fighting either of them, with a bout against Dominic Breazeale looking almost certain.

Both Whyte and Ortiz will have no doubt been disappointed after hearing this news, but it does open the door for a potential bout between two fighters who have agreed to fight each other in the past.

Whyte will be fighting on July 13, but it will be interesting to see who is opposite him when the bell goes.
