Sergio Ramos is getting mocked after he misses Real Madrid's defeat to Ajax through suspension

Ajax v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: First Leg

Real Madrid are out of the Champions League after losing 4-1 to Ajax.

In an utterly incredible match, the Eredivisie outfit stunned the reigning European champions to recover a 2-1 first leg deficit to win 5-3 on aggregate.

Ajax, needing to score twice to stand any chance of reaching the quarter-final, made a fast start at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Hakim Ziyech scored in the seventh minute to give Ajax the lead and David Neres added a second shortly afterwards, making it 3-2 to the visitors on aggregate.

Real Madrid were then forced into making two substitutes, Lucas Vazquez and Vinicius Jr. coming off with injuries. It was a nightmare first half for Santiago Solari.

And things went from bad to worse for Los Blancos when Dusan Tadic, who assisted the first two goals, made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute.

Marco Asensio pulled a goal back for the hosts but their joy was short-lived, Lasse Schone scoring a superb free-kick.

Ramos is getting mocked

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was forced to watch on as he served a suspension for picking up a deliberate booking in the first leg.

Ramos was yellow-carded late on and made the foolish decision of admitting his intentions, thinking that Los Blancos’ place in the quarter-final was assured.

"Looking at the result, I'd be lying if I said I didn't force [the booking]," Ramos said when asked about the offence, per Goal

"It is not to underestimate the opponent nor to think that the series is over, but in football you have to make tough decisions."

Real Madrid v FC Barcelona - Copa del Rey Semi Final: Second Leg

Ramos was seen watching on from a box and he’s now getting mocked heavily by football fans on social media.

He did, after all, get suspended simply because he thought the tie was over. He looks like a fool now.

Oh, Sergio.

The result means that Real have exited the Copa del Rey and Champions League in a matter of days, while their La Liga title race effectively came to an end when Barcelona beat them at the weekend.

Talk about a wretched week.
