For the first time since May 2015, Real Madrid have been knocked out of the Champions League.

Real have won the competition for the previous three years and haven’t tasted elimination since their semi-final loss to Juventus four seasons ago.

And nobody expected to see them crash out at the hands of Ajax after beating them 2-1 in Amsterdam a fortnight ago.

But, incredibly, Santiago Solari’s side were humbled 4-1 by their young, Dutch opponents.

Dusan Tadic picked up the Man of the Match award with two brilliant first-half assists and a fabulous strike of his own after the break to put Ajax 3-0 up.

But the performance of Barcelona-bound Frenkie de Jong also caught the eye.

The 21-year-old has already agreed to join Real’s Clasico rivals in a £65 million deal and may have already made himself a fan favourite at Camp Nou.

That’s because he produced a sensational performance in the middle of the pitch against Real.

For someone so young, De Jong showed incredible calmness on the ball and dominated Luka Modric during the 90 minutes.

During the first-half, clips of De Jong putting both Modric and Vinicius Jr. on their backside quickly went viral.

And now, following Ajax’s incredible victory, a compilation video of his overall performance has now emerged.

Take a look:

De Jong will be playing at the Bernabeu from next season in Clasico’s and this performance proves that he’s more than ready for the challenge.

Ironically, before the tie, De Jong explained how Barca players had jokingly told him to knock out Real when he was signing the contract at the club.

“I spoke to them when I signed the contract and they told me to try to knock out Real Madrid, as that would be great for Barca too,” De Jong revealed.

De Jong and his Ajax teammates did just that - and in style.
