Rochdale boss Keith Hill could be boosted by the return of on-loan goalkeeper Josh Lillis for the home clash with Bournemouth.

Lillis, 23, has been back at parent club Scunthorpe having treatment after damaging his hamstring during Dale's 1-1 draw against Oldham just over a fortnight ago.

Hill brought in Luke Daniels from West Brom on a seven-day emergency loan for last Friday's 2-1 defeat at Peterborough.

Daniels' loan was extended for another seven days earlier this week but Lillis could now come back into contention to earn a starting role.

Fellow stopper Matt Edwards is set to remain sidelined with a finger injury and Hill will check on the fitness of Joe Thompson.

The winger missed last week's defeat at Peterborough through injury and was replaced on the left flank by Matt Done.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has injury problems for the trip to Rochdale.

Midfielder Harry Arter is struggling with a knee injury and is a doubt, as is striker Michael Symes, who missed the FA Cup tie with Notts County in midweek due to a groin problem.

Midfielder Marc Pugh limped off at Meadow Lane with a knee injury and is a doubt for the Spotland clash while defender Ryan Garry faces another month on the sidelines following a minor shin operation.

Some good news for Howe is that midfielder Marvin Bartley is fit and Joe Partington is available after missing the FA Cup defeat to Notts County.

Veteran striker Steve Fletcher is pushing for a starting place after scoring a late consolation against County.
