Few goalkeepers have matched the achievements of Gianlugi Buffon in the history of football. After so many successful years in Italy with Juventus, the Italian stalwart opted for a new chapter in his career in the summer by joining Paris Saint-Germain.And the 41-year-old has been a resounding success, offering serious competition to Alphonse Areola and producing world-class performances. In the build-up to the second-leg tie with Manchester United, there were rumours that PSG would be offering Buffon a new two-year deal in the French capital. However, the Italian produced a very unexpected error in the game after talks of an extension had done the rounds on social media.

Romelu Lukaku had opened the scoring in the Parc Des Princes, before an equaliser by Juan Bernat shortly after following poor defending by Eric Bailly.

But Lukaku would strike again, pouncing on an uncharacteristic spill from Buffon after a long-range effort from Marcus Rashford.
