Even the most ardent Manchester United fan didn’t think they stood any chance of progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals last night.United had lost the first leg 2-0 against Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford and travelled to the Parc des Princes without 10 first-team players. But within two minutes, it was game on.Romelu Lukaku capitalised on a poor back-pass, rounded Gianluigi Buffon and finished into the empty net.United were back in the tie.But just 10 minutes later, it looked as though the tie was over once and for all.Kylian Mbappe’s ball across the box caught Eric Bailly sleeping and Juan Bernat finished at the back post.United needed another two goals without reply and PSG were in control. And they were suddenly playing with the swagger of a side that thought they had safe passage into the quarter-finals of the competition. And Dani Alves showed that.In the 20th-minute, after Bernat’s equaliser, Alves was pinged a cross-field ball. And the Brazilian decided to do a bit of showboating.

He produced a touch with the outside of his boot before juggling the ball on his foot.

At the time, social media would have been full of praise for the right-back for showing such incredible control.

However, following PSG crashing out of the competition once again, fans are now mocking Alves.

It was a needless bit of skill and many supporters believe that PSG’s loss is karma for Alves showing off.

Of course, Alves' showboating ultimately had no bearing on the outcome - although it may have angered a few United players.

Either way, he now looks a little bit silly after Marcus Rashford’s injury-time penalty sealed United 3-1 victory and an incredible comeback.
