Former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis has revealed he would consider coming out of retirement to face Mike Tyson in a rematch - but only for the princely sum of $100million.

Lewis knocked out Tyson in their famous world heavyweight bout and then followed it up with a victory over Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko before retiring in 2003.

Lewis made the revelation on the ‘Joe Rogan Podcast’ this week, revealing he would indeed be open for a rematch with Tyson – but only if he was paid an astronomical amount.

Lewis stated: “Well you know, I told people that I’d take my pyjamas off for a 100 mill.

“So if you’re serious - come with it baby, show me the paper."

Lewis did, however, admit that Tyson was well past his prime when they last met in that heavyweight bout 17 years ago, although he claimed Tyson’s infamous jail spell made it harder for him to train whilst Lewis was free to go about his normal training schedule.

Lewis added: “I looked at Tyson’s history, he’s coming from the same history that I’m coming from and he spent some time incarceration.

“While he was incarceration I’m still out there fighting and training hard, he didn’t have that in there so when he came out it was like training again doing what he knows not what he loves, that’s going to make him some money - that’s going to put some food on the table.

“I look at old time fighters and say, what made them stay in boxing so long, that’s the only thing they knew.

“They’re not going to be no singer or dancer or whatever they only know boxing and this is where they get their money from so that’s what forces them back into the ring.”

Even though Lewis retired shortly after defeating Tyson and Klitschko, ‘Iron Mike’ would push on to beat Clifford Etienne soon after.

Tyson eventually retired aged 37 after losing to both Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.

Although Lewis’ comments will ensure there is some speculation swirling about a potential rematch, Tyson has yet to comment if there is any scope for it to become a reality.
