It's becoming increasingly likely that Santiago Solari won't be at Real Madrid beyond the summer.

The Spaniard was given the task of rescuing Madrid's season when he was appointed in October.

But, after a promising start, Madrid's campaign has recently fallen apart.

Los Blancos were in prime position to advance to the Copa del Rey final but they were eliminated from the competition after being beaten by Barcelona 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

They were then defeated by Barcelona once again a few days later, effectively putting an end to their La Liga hopes.

That meant the Champions League was their last chance of silverware this season.

Having beaten Ajax 2-1 in Amsterdam in the first leg, it seemed almost certain they would progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

But, Solari's side were well below par as Ajax beat them 4-1 at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid fans have been calling for Mourinho to return to the club.

And, according to AS, that is the view shared by Florentino Perez.

Real Madrid's president is convinced that they need a 'hard hand' to fix the dressing room and Mourinho is seen as the perfect candidate.

However, he's the only director that feels that way.

José Ángel Sánchez, the general director and the man responsible for sporting matters, is not on board with bringing Mourinho back

He is concerned that the Portuguese manager has outstanding issues with a number of players, including Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema and Marcelo.

Sanchez is also unsure given his failures in his last season at the club.

Due to concerns about Mourinho, various directors have advised that Perez choose Joachim Low.

But, Perez is unwilling to change his mind.

The report adds that Perez's second choice is Zinedine Zidane and has also put his name forward.

But the Frenchman, who left the club last summer, is reported to be more interested in replacing Max Allegri at Juventus.
