Mario Balotelli claims PSG 'aren't a very good team' after their Manchester United defeat

Manchester United pulled off a famous Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Things looked bleak for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side after a 2-0 home defeat in the first leg of the tie.

Not many people gave Man United any hope of reaching the next round of the competition, especially against a PSG side that were amongst the favourites.

But a double from Romelu Lukaku and a highly controversial last-minute Marcus Rashford penalty gave the Premier League side a 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes.

Against all the odds, United advanced on away goals and will be in the pot for next week's quarter-final draw.

But while Solskjaer's side celebrated at the final whistle, PSG players were hit with that familiar feeling of Champions League failure.

The club have invested over €1 billion on new players since the QSI takeover in 2011, but have not since been past the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition.

It seems almost unthinkable that a team with so much quality can continuously fall at the same hurdle, but that's what has happened to Les Parisiens year in, year out.

And following the bitterly disappointing defeat to Man United, Mario Balotelli has offered a rather damning opinion of the French Champions.

"I saw [the match against Manchester United], United deserved [to win]," the Marseille striker told La Provence.

In response to that statement, the interviewer asked: "but PSG are a very strong team, no?" - and that drew quite an interesting answer from Balotelli.

"No, they are not a very strong team. There are some very strong players, but it's different."

Ouch, that's a pretty rough verdict. Even though they dominate domestically, Balotelli isn't convinced that PSG are as strong as people believe.

The former Premier League striker did admit though, that he thinks the French side have unlucky in Europe.

"They have no luck in the Champions League. I have nothing against them and I like Manchester City [his former club], but I prefer that United won!"

Rub it in why don't you, Mario.
