Zinedine Zidane has replaced Santiago Solari as Real Madrid manager.

Just 10 months after leaving the Bernabeu, Zidane has been convinced to return to the club.

On Monday afternoon, the club's official website confirmed the news.

They wrote: "The Board of Directors of Real Madrid, meeting today, Monday, March 11, 2019, has decided to terminate the contract that linked Santiago Solari with the club as coach of the first team and, at the same time, Real Madrid has offered to continue belonging to the club.

"Real Madrid appreciates the work done by Santiago Solari and the commitment and loyalty he has always shown to this house.

"The Board of Directors has also agreed the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as the new coach of Real Madrid with immediate incorporation for the remainder of the season and the next three, until June 30, 2022.

"The president of Real Madrid will appear today with Zinedine Zidane before the media at 8:00 pm in the press room of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium."

Many football fans will be asking ‘Why?'

'Why has Zidane returned to Madrid 10 months after leaving?'

Real’s season is over after Barcelona beat them in the Copa del Rey semi final, before beating them again in La Liga to move 13 points clear. Then, after Ajax beat them 4-1 at the Bernabeu, they also crashed out of the Champions League.

Those three defeats all came at home in the same week.

It’s no wonder Solari is on the verge of getting sacked.

Zidane will have very little to play when he first arrives, other than trying to guide Real to a second-place finish above Atletico Madrid.

But Florentino Perez has made a rather big promise to Zidane ahead of his appointment.

Overhauling the squad was reportedly key in the discussion between Perez and Zidane and it seems the former midfielder has got his wish.

According to the Independent, Zizou has been promised £300 million transfer overhaul this summer.

That is enough to convince Zidane to return.

The club want to bring in a “Galactico” for the first time since 2014 and have several targets.

The report namedrops Neymar, Christian Eriksen, Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappe.

They plan to spend more than £300 million and will also bring in money from significant sales, with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric expected to leave the club.
