Ousmane Dembele's transformation at Barcelona in 2018/19 has been very impressive.
Signed in the summer of 2017 for a fee of around £135m, the Frenchman struggled with injuries last season and just could not get going.
There was even talks of the former Borussia Dortmund man possibly leaving Catalonia, despite the fact he had been brought in to replace the seemingly irreplaceable Neymar.
The Brazilian was part of arguably the greatest attacking trident ever seen in football alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
However, he abandoned ship to join Paris Saint-Germain, believing it would improve his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or - which it hasn't.
- Wrong decisions have cost Liverpool five points while Man City have earned an extra point
- Adam Lallana's impressive individual highlights from Liverpool 4-2 Burnley
- Laurent Koscielny played final 40 minutes of Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd with 'three-inch gash' in leg
So how is Dembele coping with replacing one of the world's finest players now? Well, he's doing a fine job this season.
The folks over at Planet Football have compared Dembele's stats from this season with Neymar's in his final with Barca.
Dembele has even taken Neymar's role in the team on the left of the attack, after spending most of his time at Dortmund playing on the right.
In 2016/17, Neymar scored 13 La Liga goals in 30 appearances (one every 204 minutes), notching 20 from 45 in all competitions (one every 198.6 minutes).
As for Dembele, he's got eight from 23 in La Liga (one every 166.8 minutes) and 13 from 33 across the board (one every 164.6 minutes).
The Frenchman has well and truly replaced the goal threat from Neymar and at just 21, he's likely to match the Brazilian's most prolific seasons with the Blaugrana.
Here's where Neymar really shone in his final year with Barca, recording the most assists in La Liga with 15.
In all competitions he managed 26 in total, at a very impressive rate of one every 152 minutes. It's a department that Dembele is struggling to match the Brazilian in.
He has just eight from his 33 appearances, averaging one every 267.5 minutes.
SHOTS & DRIBBLES
Dembele averages 2.25 shots per game this season, with Neymar just ahead of him on three per game in all competitions.
In terms of dribbling, the Frenchman averages 2.3 per game in all competitions, with Neymar on 5.6 per game.
The Brazilian was disposed on average 3.2 times a game, while Dembele is far lower on just 1.3 per fixture.
Unsurprisingly when it comes to drawing fouls, Neymar is streets ahead on 3.9 per game compared to Dembele on just 1.65.
In some areas, Barca seem to have found their replacement, but Dembele will know he has a lot to work on to match the overall impact Neymar had on this Barca team.News Now - Sport News
