Diego Simeone must be sick of the sight of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League.

While the Argentine coach was respectful of the Portuguese's hat-trick for Juventus last night against Atletico Madrid, he must be fuming inside after being thwarted by the 34-year-old once again.

Simeone's side arrived in Turin with a 2-0 lead, but were powerless against the awesome might of Juve's attack, especially Ronaldo.

From minute one, the turnaround looked inevitable, with the Bianconeri setting a ridiculously high tempo and targeting Atleti's weak points.

Santiago Arias and Juanfran in the full-back roles were tortured throughout, with Ronaldo's aerial power proving to be the decisive factor in the game.

Going forward, the Spanish side were non-existent and the absence of Diego Costa through suspension was seriously felt.

Alvaro Morata has been among the goals of late, but he was anonymous. However, he wasn't as bad as his strike partner, Antoine Griezmann.

The Frenchman is one of the world's finest players, someone who has regularly said he believes he's up there with the likes of Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

But on the biggest stage of all domestically, he was sub-par and Griezmann admitted his failings after the game.

"We did not enter the game, we knew it was going to be difficult and we chose a bad day to screw it up," Griezmann told Movistar Liga de Campeones, per Goal.

"Everyone is f****ed up and I feel guilty, because I could not keep up with the pace of the game."

While Griezmann has turned up in the biggest of games for France - like the World Cup final - his inability to do the same consistently with Atletico is a concern.

As such, his personal ambition to lift the Ballon d'Or looks a distant dream right now. According to WhoScored, Griezmann was rated at 6.0, with Jan Oblak the only player worse off on 5.4.

Ronaldo - who received a 9.8 rating for last night - and Messi produce pretty much every time they're required too and never look as if they're struggling to keep up with the game.

At 27, the time for Griezmann to make the next step is now.
