Cristiano Ronaldo is Mr. Champions League, isn’t he?

Juventus needed to overturn their 2-0 loss from their first leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and did just that with a 3-0 win in Turin.

And the Portuguese superstar notched himself a hat-trick to send the Old Lady into the last-eight of the competition.

He’s now scored 124 goals in the competition, 18 clear of second-placed Lionel Messi. It’s also three more than Atletico have managed in their history in the competition.

As he pointed out after the match, it’s exactly why Juve signed him - for nights like this.

However, it wasn’t a perfect performance from Ronaldo apparently.

That’s according to French outlet L’Equipe anyway.

They are famed for their match ratings and are notoriously harsh.

Just last week, they gave out a 10/10 to their ninth player with Dusan Tadic producing a sensational display to help Ajax beat Real Madrid 4-1.

But Ronaldo’s display wasn’t quite as good as Tadic’s, say L’Equipe.

That’s because the five-time Ballon d’Or ‘only’ received a 9/10.

It’s hard to think what more Ronaldo could have done to earn a 10/10. Score four goals, perhaps?

Maybe Cristiano is a victim of his own success.

Football fans knew that he was capable of producing a magical performance to help Juventus reach the quarter-finals and weren't particularly surprised to see him score a hat-trick.

Nobody is shocked by Ronaldo’s heroics on nights when it really matters anymore.

However, L'Equipe did have some kind words to say about the former Real Madrid star.

"Unique, monstrous, an extraterrestrial," they wrote. "The superlatives never fail when it comes to Cristiano, and the performance delivered by the Portuguese against the ghosts of the colchoneros will participate to reinforce a little more his legend.”
