Douglas Costa mocked Diego Simeone from the stands after Cristiano Ronaldo's third goal

Juventus v Chievo - Serie A

Cristiano Ronaldo added another memorable Champions League night to his brimming collection on Tuesday against old rivals Atletico Madrid.

A hat-trick from the 34-year-old winger overturned the 2-0 lead Atletico took into the second leg to fire Juventus into the quarter-finals.

It was a comeback no one saw coming yet everyone should have expected given Ronaldo's track record of turning around Champions League ties.

Atletico players will certainly be sick of the sight of him considering he's now scored 25 goals in 33 career appearances against them.

And yet, Diego Simeone couldn't help but laud the Portuguese superstar in his post-match press conference by saying he's "the best in the world".

Ronaldo mimicked Simeone's 'cojones' celebration at the final whistle, to which Atletico's manager said: "He was trying to show his character.

"He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano [in Madrid]. He can put in these performances on big nights."

Simeone will be regretting the way he behaved after the first leg and it turns out Ronaldo wasn't the only one who reminded the Spaniard of his ill-timed celebration.

Fan footage has emerged showing Douglas Costa also mocked Simeone after Ronaldo's third goal by copying his 'cojones' celebration from the stands.

In the video below, Costa can be seen celebrating with the likes of Andrea Barzagli and Juan Cuadrado before looking at the Atletico bench and grabbing his crotch.

Charming. Emotions clearly got the better of Costa, who couldn't help rubbing it in Simeone's face after such an unlikely comeback.

But credit where it's due, Simeone was gracious in defeat after exiting the Champions League as he said Juventus deserved to win the game.

"It was not about commitment, work or effort," said the 48-year-old. "Juventus were better and deserved to win the game.

"They pushed us back. You must congratulate a rival when they play a game like that and you are beaten like today.

"We made many mistakes, for sure - but I mean me, not the players. They were better tactically and on second balls. That is why they won the game."
