What more can you say about Cristiano Ronaldo?

Even at the age of 34, the Portuguese superstar continues to amaze.

His latest extraordinary feat was to single-handedly drag Juventus through to the Champions League quarter-finals at Atletico Madrid’s expense after scoring a hat-trick in Turin on Tuesday night.

Remarkably, a story from Spain emerged in the hours before kick-off claiming Ronaldo had told close friends and family that he would score a hat-trick to eliminate Atletico.

It turns out he’s not just a world-class footballer, he’s even giving Nostradamus a run for his money these days.

Ronaldo’s performance has intensified the debate over whether the Juventus star is the greatest footballer of all time.

This always happens whenever Ronaldo or Lionel Messi produces a masterclass, but it gets people talking - and arguing - about the issue which has long divided football fans.

Diego Maradona, still regarded by some people as the best player in football history, had his say about Ronaldo following the Portugal international’s latest performance.

The Argentine, like the rest of us, was astounded that Ronaldo predicted he would score three goals prior to the Atleti match and then did just that.

Maradona also described the Juve ace as a “beast”.

"There are some players that are touched by a magic wand,” Maradona was quoted as saying by the Argentine version of Marca.

“We Argentinians love Messi and we're proud that he didn't leave us for the Spaniards [referring to the fact Messi could have represented Spain], but the other is a beast.

“Ronaldo is pure power and now is also a wizard, he said that he was going to score three goals and scored three goals."

Although Maradona knows Messi and is a fellow proud Argentine, you could be forgiven for wondering if El Diego is now #TeamRonaldo following his latest comments.

He admits that he loves Messi and is proud that he represents Argentina, but has then gone on to describe Ronaldo as a “wizard” and a “beast” who possesses “pure power”.

All of those things are true, of course, although people will wonder whether Maradona secretly believes Ronaldo is now better than Messi.
