WWE is on the verge of finalizing their card for NXT TakeOver: New York on April 5 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This event will take place the night before WrestleMania 35.For the past couple of months, NXT TakeOver: New York had looked like it would play host to the final clash between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship, the final time these two rivals would meet in the NXT brand. However, now Ciampa has undergone neck surgery that will see him sidelined for several months, plans have changed, and Triple H confirmed those changes at the NXT tapings this week.According to Fightful, The Game revealed that Gargano vs  Ciampa was going to be the original main event but Ciampa is dropping the title due to his recent neck surgery. He then announced that Gargano would still compete for the gold at TakeOver, and his opponent would be decided in a five-way match between Adam Cole, Ricochet, Aleister Black, Velveteen Dream, and Matt Riddle.

Cole would go on to win the match later on during the tapings, meaning the leader of the Undisputed Era will face Johnny Wrestling for the NXT Title at NXT TakeOver: New York.

This match will also be contested under two-out-of-three falls rules in order to ensure a definite winner.

This wasn't the only match confirmed for NXT TakeOver: New York during the NXT tapings this week.

Dream has been booked to defend his NXT North American Championship vs Riddle. Ricochet and Black will also face The War Raiders for the NXT Tag Team titles after winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

During NXT's broadcast this week, a fatal four-way for the NXT Women's Champion between Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Kairi Sane, and Io Shirai was also confirmed for TakeOver: New York.

Prior to this week's broadcast, the only match officially confirmed for TakeOver: New York was Pete Dunne defending his NXT UK title vs WALTER.

We await to see if any more matches will be added to NXT TakeOver: New York between now and the event itself, but as of right now, it's looking like it will be a great warm-up show before WrestleMania the following night.
