Manchester City are set to be hit with a two-window transfer ban by FIFA.

As reported by The Sun, football's governing body has been conducting a thorough investigation and has confirmed City have breached the rules on the transfers of minors.

Chelsea have recently been found guilty of the same and have received a similar ban, although they are intending to appeal the matter - City may do the same.

A Fifa insider said: “We have been investigating City as part of a long-term investigation.

“We expect there will be an announcement on City, very similar to the one we made on Chelsea, in the next week or two. It is coming very soon.”

Whether the investigation is linked to The Times' report concerning City's 'planned £225k payment' to Jadon Sancho's family while he was at Watford back in 2014 is unknown right now.

FIFA are also launching a second probe into City's funding of the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, which if found guilty could land them in even more serious trouble.

They're also facing an investigation from UEFA on possible breaches of the Financial Fair Play laws.

The news will come as a devastating blow to Pep Guardiola, who was planning a serious summer spending spree.

Ben Chilwell, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luka Jovic have been just some of the big names linked with a summer move to the Etihad in recent months.

But it looks as if Guardiola will have to place all his faith in the current squad he has, which is still arguably the best in Europe.

City also have a number of exciting younger players throughout their squad, while their star names are all tied down to long-term contracts.

German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will be the only player of slight concern in regards to his contract, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2020.

However, if the worst came to the worst and the former Borussia Dortmund man simply wanted to run the contract down, City would be free to sign players again in that summer window.
