Eddie Jones has started the mind games early before the Six Nations finale on Saturday.

England will need Ireland to grab a shock victory over Wales if they want to to take their 39th title in the championship.

Wales are unbeaten in the first four games and have looked dominant as they search for their first Six Nations grand slam since 2013.

As the teams build up to the all-important final weekend, Eddie Jones has decided to help his side's cause by building some pressure on their Welsh challengers.

He said in a video on England Rugby social media earlier this week: "Great credit to them for what they’ve done. But they are starting to look a bit tired.

"They’ve made more tackles than anyone else in the tournament and they’re playing an Ireland side that seems to be peaking at the right time."

The comments didn't go down particularly well with Wales boss Warren Gatland, who replied to Jones in confident style.

“What the hell is Eddie doing talking about our game?” said Gatland, according to The Mirror. “My advice to Eddie is to concentrate on the Scotland match.

“We don’t lose very often when it matters. I pride myself on the record I’ve had in big matches when it’s really mattered. I get even more of a buzz when people write us off. We know what is at stake and the prize is massive. I have never seen a group of players this motivated and excited.”

The Wales team in question has relied heavily on their defence to put them in a winning position. They have scored 10 fewer tries than England and Jones is hoping to finish the tournament off with a showcase of his side's dominance.

He added: “There’s a great deal of urgency about the point we want to prove. We’ve got an opportunity to show we’re the best team in the Six Nations and approaching the best team in the world – and we’re not going to miss it."
