Darren Till returned to the United Kingdom last night as he fought Jorge Masvidal inside a packed O2 Arena in London.Following defeat to Tyron Woodley back in September 2018 in a Welterweight title fight, Till has been absent from the Octagon, but was pitted to fight the number 11-ranked 34-year-old in England's capital.Till made the decision to stay at Welterweight despite the weight cuts being gruelling for him, and he seemingly wants to try and earn another shot at the championship after Woodley was defeated earlier this month by Kamaru Usman. It looked as though we might have gotten a really early finish as Till dropped Masvidal with a crushing left hand within the first 10 seconds of the fight, but the American just about scrambled to safety.Till had the size advantage over his much older opponent, but despite getting him on the mat a few times Masvidal's defence was successful as he made it out of the first round in one piece.

Three minutes into round two saw the climax of the contest. Masvidal caught Till completely off-guard with a straight right hand but it was the following left hook that did all the damage, sending Till right back into the mat with no chance of recovery.

Marc Goddard immediately waved off the fight, sending the 20,000 capacity arena into a state of silence.

That moment killed off any chances of seeing a much-anticipated bout between Till and recently acquired Welterweight star Ben Askren, who submitted Robbie Lawler at UFC 235.

What next for Till though?

It looks like it will be back to the drawing board with the hype train surrounding his name seemingly derailed for the time being.

He may have to take another six month break once again considering he did not take the loss to Woodley in the United States well at all, but with age on his side Till will no doubt return stronger than ever.
