David Beckham is due to embark on an exciting adventure in the MLS next season. 

He's part owner and president of Inter Miami CF, a new team expected to start competing in the American league from 2020 onwards. 

Arguably, there's few better than Becks to lead an expansion team in the MLS considering the career he had as a pro. 

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder played out the twilight years of his career at LA Galaxy and became a sporting megastar in the States. 

There's an awful lot of work to get done before Inter Miami begin play in 2020 - and that includes building a permanent stadium, which is yet to begin.

More importantly, though, Beckham and his co-owners need to build a squad of players. 

But with 'Golden Balls' at the forefront of the project, attracting names shouldn't be much of a problem. 

In fact, there have even been suggestions that some of the biggest stars of the game would be tempted to link up with Beckham and finish their careers in America. 

Right now, there are no bigger names in football than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Of course, both men are a few years off retiring yet - but Beckham was recently asked about the possibility of signing two of the greatest of all time at some point in the future. 

He suggested that the pair have plenty of top-level football left to play, but interestingly, didn't rule out the possibility of signing one of the pair - or even both, in years to come.

"Everyone has their wish list - everyone does!" Beckham told reporters in Miami, per Goal. 

"But if you look at the way Leo and Cristiano are still playing, even at what you might think is the later stage of their careers, I don't see it ending for them.

"They're playing at such a high level that it's hard to see them leaving the clubs they are at. But we will see. You never know what can happen in football."

As Beckham says, anything certainly can happen and it wouldn't be out of the question to see Messi or Ronaldo end up in the MLS one day. But for now, that's still quite a way off.
