Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Fulham on Sunday.

The Reds led through Sadio Mane’s first-half goal but they allowed Fulham back into the game when Ryan Babel capitalised on a defensive mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker in the 74th minute.

But the visitors regained the lead seven minutes later through James Milner’s penalty.

Milner, a second-half substitute, smashed home from 12 yards after Fulham goalkeeper Sergio Rico fouled Sadio Mane in the area.

And so Liverpool regain top spot with 76 points, although they have played one more game than Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp was delighted to escape west London with all three points but the performance of Mohamed Salah will have been a concern.

The Egyptian missed a couple of good chances to score and was labelled “selfish and greedy” by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.

Salah receives five out of 10 rating

And Salah’s afternoon was summed up by the Liverpool Echo’s player ratings; he received the lowest score of any Liverpool player, being rated five out of 10.

“Didn't get much help from the referee and found [Joe] Bryan a tough opponent,” the Echo assessed as Salah’s goalless run was extended to seven matches.

“While a regular threat, tried too hard and was often greedy when in good positions. Missed chance for the third.”

The Echo’s entire ratings are as follows…
