There are times when you just have to sit back and ponder what just happened. Last weekend the Hoops went to Elland road and met a guy called Max Gradel. WHO?
I haven’t heard of this guy except for being sent off in the last game of the season for Leeds when they needed to win their last game.
Now, tamed and controlled he owned the midfield completely. To begin with it was quite even, both teams having chances and some great defending.
If I’m being honest without Paddy Kenny it could have been a lot worse, the Hoops didn’t play badly it's just (as far as I’m concerned) Mr Gradel was on fire, forget the two excellently taken goals scored he seemed to be everywhere, on the left darting down the line, through the middle and helping the defence.
A few friends that went to the game told me the Hoop fans and team seemed shell shocked after half time as Leeds seemed to give them one of the biggest tests of the season so far.
Let’s not blow this out of proportion though - QPR are still three points clear with a game in hand, it’s too easy to look at the last two results and forget the position they are in and all the hard work they’ve done.
They already played two teams who were in the playoff contention with Swansea, Coventry and Norwich upcoming, ALL of these teams are in the play-off positions and chasing hard.
A couple of results here project the super hoops further in front, one of the best things about the Npower Championship is everyone can beat everyone and usually do. There are no guaranteed wins, or easy rides in this league, plus you can trust in Mr Warnock to get the boys fired up for the next couple of fixtures.
Now is not the time to lose your heads as fans, there are more very important games coming up with bigger tests which hopefully QPR can endure and overcome.
Boxing Day sees the invite extend to the Swansea fans, the game kicks off at 1pm, now this is an important game, the players need to pick themselves up keep believing and go get a result here, the records have gone now so time to knuckle down.
Swansea have scored 14 goals away and let in 14 goals over 11 games which means in this league they have fire power in Craig Beattie, Shefki Kuqi, and even defender Angel Rangel has come up with a couple of great goals.
So Hoops defence will have another test for this game but to be fair after the next couple of games they will have played the all top teams in the league.
Hopefully the fans will find their voices again on Boxing Day, the players will have regained their confidence and a great result will lift the Hoops once more.
