Conor McGregor's name has been in the news once again this past week, but for all the wrong reasons.

'Notorious' had been accused of stamping on and stealing a fan's phone outside a hotel in Miami, and was subsequently arrested for his actions before later posting bond.

He's also facing a civil lawsuit for his actions so it's not the best time for the Irishman, who can't even compete in the sport he's been made famous in currently after being suspended by the UFC for six months.

That was due to his actions at UFC 229 following being submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in their record-breaking bout, where he landed a blow on Khabib's brother and corner man, Abubakar.

Rumours were rife that he was going to face Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone upon his return but talks broke down, with McGregor reportedly wanting to be the main event of the pay-per-view but UFC wanted a title match there instead.

As any normal Irish man would, McGregor was celebrating St. Patrick's Day yesterday in the States and was invited to Chicago as a guest of honour for their Paddy's Day parade.

When speaking to television outlet ABC7 Chicago, McGregor revealed where his future lies in the Octagon and when he potentially may be coming back.

We’re currently in negotiations,” stated the former two-weight world champion, per MMA Fighting.

“We’re aiming for July. We’ll see what happens, but I’m staying ready.

"This morning I was doing incline sprints on the treadmill on my program, the McGregorFast program, in a hotel room. So we’re staying on it, getting work in as we go.”

With Nurmagomedov sitting out until November, an interim Lightweight champion will be crowned next month as Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier go head-to-head - two men who McGregor has already beaten in the past.

It's feasible that McGregor could face the winner of this fight upon his return in July, which would surely set-up Conor v Khabib part 2 should he be victorious.

However McGregor this week at fighting his nemesis Nate Diaz in a trilogy fight, this time in the 185-pound division at Middleweight.

Whatever clash McGregor gets handed is bound to make money, and his return cannot come soon enough both for the fans and for the men behind the cash in UFC.
