The Rock honours Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Stone Cold as greatest wrestlers of all time

Last weekend marked the 17th anniversary of one of the greatest WrestleMania shows of all time, WrestleMania 18.

One of the marquee matches of the event was the billed Icon vs Icon clash between Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

At Toronto's SkyDome, the crowd was fully behind Hogan's, now Hollywood Hulk Hogan, first WrestleMania match since WrestleMania 9, going up against the new hero of the WWE in The Rock.

After a thunderous bout, the match ended with The People's Champion hitting the People's Elbow on The Hulkster for the pinfall win.

During a recent Instagram post, The Rock celebrated the 17th anniversary of his iconic match with Hogan.

He also named Hogan alongside Ric Flair and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the greatest of all time because they paved the way for so many in professional wrestling.

He said: "My friend and childhood hero, Hulk Hogan passed the torch to me on this historic night which decreed me becoming “THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME”, but the truth is – to me – the GOAT are the three men below who paved the way for me and so many others in pro wrestling/ @hulkhogan @ricflairnatureboy @steveaustinbsr.

"I just worked very hard, connected with the audience and caught a break. These GOATS were good enough to recognize I had something to offer and graciously passed the torch.

No one would dare to argue with the list of greats that The Rock has provided, as Flair, Stone Cold, and Hogan each played a huge part in helping pro wrestling become what it is today, especially in the WWE.

However, he's missing one superstar from his list, himself. The Great One played a big part in the rise of the Attitude Era in WWE, which helped establish the promotion to the level which it finds itself now.

It's unclear as to when fans will see The Rock in the WWE, but there have been reports that he could be involved in a segment at WrestleMania 35 at MetLife Stadium later this year.
