Lionel Messi put in another extraordinary performance against Betis on Friday. He produced a quite brilliant hat-trick as Barcelona won 4-1.Messi's first goal on the night was special; a 25 yard free-kick that found the top corner with ferocity. But his goal to seal his hat-trick was even better.Messi pulled off an audacious chip from a tight angle that sailed over Paul Lopez Sabata.

His teammates reaction said it all, with Sergi Roberto and Clement Lenglet both putting their hands on their head.

The goal even earned a standing ovation from Betis fans but Messi was unsure whether it was the best goal he has ever scored.

"I don't know, I was lucky that both of them went in but above all we got the three points," he said when asked whether it was the best goal he's ever scored, per AS.

"We knew that we had a good opportunity to put a little distance between ourselves and Atlético and we couldn't fail."

The goal was very unique and a reminder of just how good the Argentinian is.

But, a very similar goal has been scored before.

Frank Lampard's goal against Hull City back in 2008 is almost a carbon copy of Messi's.

Lampard's is arguably better, though.

Lampard managed to beat Boaz Myhill with a delicate chip from just outside of the area.

The ball sailed into the top corner and was made even better by the fact that it was with his left foot.

Chelsea felt the need to post the goal on Instagram as a reminder that Lampard has in fact scored a very similar goal, if not better, than Messi's.

Luis Felipe Scolari described Lampard's chip as 'one of the best goal I've seen in my life'.

"I think Frank Lampard's goal was one of the best in the Premier League," he said, per the BBC.

"It was a fantastic goal - only Frank Lampard can make this goal. It was one of the best goals I have seen in my life.

"He is a very intelligent player and he is a man that is never tired.

"There are many very good players in England, and one of the best is Frank."
