Manchester United are keen to start their summer with a bang by signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
The 18-year-old winger has gone from a raw talent in Manchester City's academy, to a household name in less than a year.
Sancho has eight goals and 12 assists in 26 Bundesliga games, with Dortmund still fighting for the title out in Germany.
The teenage star is now seemingly a regular in Gareth Southgate's England squad and it will be interesting to see how involved he is during the international break.
As for the links to United, the Red Devils have had issues at right-wing for some time now - Diogo Dalot has had to deputise in the role of late.
- All Manchester United no.7s since Cristiano Ronaldo and where they are now
- Xavi & Gerard Pique named in Catalonia squad to play friendly vs Venezuela
- Real Madrid fans have voted for the players they want the club to sign this summer
And this fact may have influenced United's thinking, because they are now prepared to do "everything they can" to land Sancho in the summer.
That's according to a report in the Evening Standard, with a figure of £80m said to be persuasive enough in negotiations.
A United source reportedly said: “They are doing everything they can to sign him.”
Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race for Sancho, but United are confident of luring him back to the Premier League.
Another positive is also the fact that City failed to include a Brahim Diaz-like clause into Sancho's transfer to Dortmund.
With Diaz, an inflated sell-on clause was included to prevent Real Madrid ever negotiating with United.
If that same clause was included in Sancho's £9.1m move to Dortmund, United would owe City £32m of the proposed £80m fee.
One potential issue for United fans about the interest in Sancho would be the threat it would pose to the likes of Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes.
The two academy products are viewed in high-esteem by supporters and they would surely have to sacrifice any chance in the first-team to accommodate Sancho's arrival.
