Leroy Sane victim of disgusting tackle from Milan Pavkov during Germany 1-1 Serbia

Leroy Sane is tackled vs Serbia

Germany's international break has started off with a 1-1 draw against Serbia.

The big news prior to the domestic sabbatical was the fact that Die Mannschaft boss Joachim Low had decided that Thomas Muller, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels would no longer be selected.

Bayern's experienced trio played a key part in Germany's success at the 2014 World Cup, but really struggled in the 2018 edition of the tournament.

With Mesut Ozil also now retired from international duty, it's time for a younger core to step up in the form of Leroy Sane, Kai Havertz and Julian Brant.

Sane's omission from the squad for the World Cup in Russia raised a lot of eyebrows, but he's firmly back in the fold now.

The Manchester City winger played the full 90 minutes in last night's draw with Serbia, but was also on the wrong end of one of the worst tackles you will see this season.

Serbia's Milan Pavkov attempted to plead his innocence, but has been widely condemned for his actions in a 'friendly' match.

You can watch the footage below.

Cowardly and outright disgusting from the Red Star Belgrade striker.

It's a minor miracle that Sane did not break his ankle and if there were any justice in the footballing world, Pavkov would be handed a lengthy ban by FIFA - which certainly will not happen.

Low said after the game: "It was a vicious foul. Sane was lucky and got away with not getting hurt but such fouls can break bones."

The game itself was a rather entertaining spectacle, with Eintracht Frankfurt's rising star Luka Jovic scoring his first senior goal for Serbia.

Sane attempts a shot

Bayern's Leon Goretzka equalised for Germany, but Low's side were unable to push on and claim the win.

Die Mannschaft travel to their arch rivals Holland on Sunday evening in a Euro 2020 qualifier and Sane is expected to be fit enough to feature.
