Nike have released 2,000 pairs of their brand new T90 Laser boots

Football fans were very excited to hear Nike were bringing back the first generation Nike T90 Laser I this week.

The announcement was first made by Luis Figo on Instagram, with the legendary Portuguese writing: “The best model ever of boots are back!! Stay tuned.”

Figo wore the original boots during the final years of his career at Inter Milan and the iconic design has been a source of great nostalgia for supporters.

The design was active between 2007 and 2013, before the range was replaced by the Hypervenom models after four different generations.

Aside from Figo, Fernando Torres and Wayne Rooney are some of the most famous players to don the T90 Lasers during their peaks at Liverpool and Manchester United.

First look at Nike’s relaunch

Fans were informed that the boots would make a return within a month, but only had the photograph of Figo to see how the design had changed and what stayed the same.

However, ahead of their limited re-release, Nike have unveiled a number of photographs to show what their buyers can expect.

The images show that Nike have largely remained faithful to the original copies and have opted for the ‘Zest/Black/Sport Red’ coloration that Figo sported at the San Siro.

New T90 Lasers released

Nike’s re-launch has maintained an identical replica of the shooting technology, skeletal foot design on the soleplate and – of course – the iconic T90 branding itself.

The only major alteration has seen Nike adopt the same Hyperstability 2.0 soleplate seen in the Phantom VNM series.

As a result, it seems Nike have found the perfect balance between maintaining what made the originals so iconic, while also giving them a modern twist and unique selling point.

However, getting your hands on the boots will be easier said than done.

It’s been confirmed that only 2,000 pairs will be hitting the shelves worldwide, each with an individual number on the soleplate.

They officially went on sale at 8am GMT on Thursday and at the time of writing, websites like Pro:Direct Soccer are already on their final pairs.

It’s no surprise that the boots have proven so popular and their limited nature has seen them priced in the region of £200.00.

Nevertheless, whether or not supporters can get their hands on the boots now, you can guarantee that the T90 Lasers will be resold for a pretty penny in years to come.

But to relive the nostalgia of prime Torres and Rooney, it will be worth the money for plenty of fans.
