Oleksandr Usyk, the undisputed cruiserweight champion, is now set to take on a bigger and better challenge.

The Ukrainian has won all four major titles at cruiserweight and is now set to make his heavyweight debut against Carlos Takam, according to FOX Sports' Mike Coppinger.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has previously hinted that the venue will most likely be the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Alexander Povetkin was in the works to be the original opponent but the Russian's team decided to pursue other options.

However, the 34-2 Russian man may loom as the next potential contender to face Usyk after his bout with Takam.

Takam, the French-Cameroonian boxer now holds the honor of competing against Usyk for his heavyweight debut in the States on May 18 - the same night Deontay Wilder will face Dominic Breazeale.

The 38-year-old heavyweight has had quite the career to date but refuses to stop and boasts an impressive all-time record of 36-5-2, having only been stopped by top opposition in recent fights, most famously in the controversial loss to Anthony Joshua back in October 2017.

While it may be Usyk's debut in the heavyweight division, it is not the 32-year-old's first exposure to it in his career.

Back in the 2012 London Olympics, Usyk represented Ukraine as he won gold in the heavyweight division.

Following that international triumph, Usyk went professional the next year and later became the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO cruiserweight world champion.

Usyk's most recent accomplishments include the successful defence of his four titles against Brit Tony Bellew.

As an undisputed champion of the cruiserweight division, Usyk clearly needed a new and more difficult challenge and this may be his next big break.

It may be a difficult ride to switch into heavyweight against such a formidable opponent, but there should be no fan out there who will deny the quality of Usyk and take away from the quality of both corners when they face off head-to-head.
