With WrestleMania 35 already shaping up to be a stacked card, it comes as no surprises that stories are emerging about cancelled matches, plans being reshuffled and WWE keeping certain names off the card entirely.
This week, reports emerged suggesting that one of John Cena's plans was nixed, although he's still expected to feature on the card.
WRESTLEMANIA 35
Sources claimed that Cena was originally going to challenge Samoa Joe for the United States Championship, a spot which has now been given to Rey Mysterio instead.
It's also being reported by several outlets that with so many WrestleMania matches set to take place, some championships might not receive a big focus.
For example, the male tag team championship titles might not get a big enough focus this year if the event is, once again, too long.
Now, it's being reported that Vince McMahon himself has scrapped plans for a stipulation match between Mysterio and Andrade 'Cien' Almas for the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Firstly, had Cena gone up against Joe, then the Almas and Mysterio match was set to go ahead.
Now, the Wrestling Observer is claiming that Mysterio vs. Almas was scheduled to be a hair vs. mask match.
Although there's no word on why the bout and idea were both scrapped entirely, but sources are claiming that one reason behind the cancellation was Vince McMahon himself.
STIPULATION
They've stated that Vince didn't want to see Andrade lose his hair and there was no way the WWE was going to book Mysterio to lose the mask. The reason behind it is not only the respect behind the mask but also because Mysterio has merchandise on sale which touts him as the Greatest Mask of All-Time.
It's no secret that the WWE has big plans for Almas, despite not being featured in any championship plans right now.
Ever since his success in NXT, it was thought that Vince is a fan and would turn him into a big star in the future, certainly big enough to replace Mysterio.
Sadly, it's uncertain what role Almas will have at WrestleMania next month - or if he'll have one at all.
