Michael van Gerwen has had a poor past month or so.The Dutchman has won just one of his last four Premier League matches, most recently being defeated by Daryl Gurney in Berlin. He was also shocked in the last 64 of the UK Open after he was defeated by Mervyn King. However, he put his poor form behind him as he won the first European Tour event of the year in Leverkusen on Sunday.Van Gerwen would defeat Rob Cross in the final, averaging 104.79 as he won 8-6.

The 29-year-old was magical throughout the tournament and that was emphasised in his semi-final match against Mensur Suljovic.

Van Gerwen hit a phenomenal nine-darter earlier on in the year; where he produced the perfect game without hitting a 180 in a Players Championship event in February.

Watch that nine-darter below:

That nine-darter was spectacular, but he produced one even better against Suljovic on Sunday.

Van Gerwen left 147 after hitting 180 and 174 with his first two visits.

Instead of going the conventional route of T20-T17-D18, Van Gerwen decided to go T19-Bull-D20.

Watch it below:

Absolutely outrageous.

Van Gerwen produced another exhibition shot on the biggest stage.

It really is silly how easy he makes the sport look.

Van Gerwen made history while hitting the nine-darter, as he became the first player to hit two nine-darters on the European Tour.

'Mighty Mike' said he was 'happy' with his performance as he ended his poor run of form.

"Everyone always thinks I am a robot but I'm not a robot and today was one of the days where I had to work really hard to win," said Van Gerwen.

"Rob played so well in this tournament, I knew I had to perform well if I wanted to beat him and it was really tough for me.

"He was a bit unlucky at the end but I hit the big shots at the right moments so I'm happy with my performance."
