Jos Buttler was fuming with Rav Ashwin after the bowler 'mankaded' him in the Indian Premier League on Monday night.Playing for Rajasthan Royals against Ashwin's Kings XI Punjab, Buttler had scored 69 from just 43 balls and looked set to play an important part in his team’s first win of the 2019 season. But, clearly frustrated with Buttler's great scoring, Ashwin went against the spirit of the game to get Englishman out at the non-striker's end.The Indian spiiner appeared to be in full stride as he ran to the crease, and Buttler edged forward expecting him to bowl. But in a strange turn of events, the man considered by many as the best slow bowler in the world quickly turned around and knocked Buttler's stumps off, therefore running him out.

Ashwin appealed, leading to the on-field umpires going to the TV umpire to confirm if he was out of his crease.

When replays showed that he was, the wicket stood and the England wicket-keeper was left furious with the way he had been run out.

Commentating on BT Sport was former New Zealand wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum, and he felt the Englishman wasn’t trying to gain an advantage when he was mankaded.

“The question I pose is is he deliberately doing it?” McCullum said.

“Is he deliberately trying to get a jump on the running between the wickets? My answer is no.

“It’s touch and go there. I’m not a fan of this, I have to say I’m not a fan.”

A mankad dismissal is widely considered to be going against the spirit of the game and without a prior warning from the bowler is particularly frowned upon.

Surprisingly though, this is not the first time that this has happened to Buttler, as he also suffered the same fate in an England ODI against Sri Lanka back in 2014.
