Italy has a proud tradition of producing world-class players within Serie A.

Francesco Totti, Daniele Di Rossi and Andrea Pirlo are just a handful of perfect examples of homegrown stars who made their name and achieved incredible success.

Despite the tendency for today's players to move abroad before breaking into the senior team of their boyhood club, Serie A has continued to unearth outstanding talents.

Having looked at the best youngsters plying their trade in La Liga on Monday, here we select Serie A's best teenage XI at present.

While the team isn't rock-solid in every position, there's no question that Italian youth academies are doing something right.

GK: ALESSANDRO PLIZZARI

Alessandro Plizzari has to replace Milan colleague Gianluigi Donnarumma as the most promising teenage goalkeeper in Italy, not least because of their identical development paths to date.

RB: WILLIAM BIANDA

William Bianda - Roma’s highly rated French centre-back - is forced to play out of his favoured position due to a shortage of young right-backs in Serie A.

CB: ALESSANDRO BASTONI

With 16 Serie A appearances to his name this season, Parma’s Alessandro Bastoni stands out as one of the brightest defensive starlets Italian football has seen in some time.

CB: GABRIELE CORBO

Alongside him, Gabriele Corbo has been turning heads at under-17, under-18 and under-20 level for Italy while awaiting his senior debut for Bologna.

LB: BEN WILMOT

Ben Wilmot - Udinese's loanee from Watford - is asked to play left-back after following up six promising appearances for the Hornets with a Serie A debut against Juventus in March.

CM: ENRICO BRIGNOLA

Following a debut Serie A season that included 18 appearances and three goals last term, Enrico Brignola has largely continued in the same vein since swapping Benevento for Sassuolo.

CM: HAMED JUNIOR TRAORE

Hamed Junior Traore can only be impressing his parent club Fiorentina in his maiden Serie A campaign, earning 16 starts in 22 appearances on-loan at Empoli.

CM: NICOLO ZANIOLO

Boasting six more appearances than Traore in all competitions this term, Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo has also contributed five goals and two assists.

RW: JUSTIN KLUIVERT

Justin Kluivert has been difficult to ignore in his 29 competitive appearances for Roma, especially since becoming their youngest Champions League goalscorer last October.

LW: MOISE KEAN

Although Moise Kean has been given only fleeting chances to showcase his ability for Juventus, there can be no denying the potential of an 18-year-old who’s already a full international for Italy.

ST: ANDREA PINAMONTI

It takes a talented 19-year-old to score four goals in 19 outings for a relegation-threatened club, and that’s exactly what Inter’s Andrea Pinamonti has done on-loan at Frosinone so far this season.
