Exeter boss Paul Tisdale is sweating on the fitness of David Noble ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Swindon.

The midfielder is a doubt after picking up a suspected knee injury in the Grecians' stunning 5-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the only game to be played in npower League One last Saturday.

However, Troy Archibald-Henville makes his return after missing the clash against the Owls due to a one-match ban.

The defender may not be guaranteed a staring place though as, in his absence, Billy Jones made a good impression against Wednesday.

Tisdale has no other injury or suspension worries, though, with Exeter playing four games in nine days over the festive period, he may opt to rest some of his players.

Swindon travel without the services of midfielder Paul Caddis as he recovers from illness.

The Scotland international is recovering from a serious bout of flu and is expected to be sidelined for the next couple of weeks.

Captain Jonathan Douglas is still waiting to start his three-match suspension after Town`s recent matches against Oldham and Tranmere both fell foul of the big freeze, meaning he misses out at St James`s Park.

Goalkeepers David Lucas (knee) and Phil Smith (dead leg) both appear to have recovered from niggling minor problems and will compete for the number one jersey, which looks to be up for grabs for the Boxing Day fixture.

Smith has held the edge over Lucas of late having replaced him between the sticks in early November, although the 3-2 FA Cup home defeat to Crawley last time out has given manager Danny Wilson plenty to think about all over the pitch.
