There hasn't been a better time to be an England fan since the 2002 World Cup.

The Three Lions were one of the best international teams in the world back then, famously beating Argentina in the group stage and brushing aside Denmark 3-0 in the last-16.

It took one of Brazil's greatest ever teams, one littered with legends, to beat England out in Japan and South Korea.

The Three Lions certainly arrived home with pride, something they failed to do until last summer's World Cup.

They unexpectedly reached the semi-final and Gareth Southgate's team has taken on another level in the months after the defeat to Croatia in Moscow.

Young players are thriving, with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Callum Hudson-Odoi already making names for themselves on the senior international scene in their teenage years

The pair will likely be in Southgate's squad for the UEFA Nations League finals in June, meaning they could miss the U21 European Championships.

But what if the Three Lions instead gave priority to the U21 tournament and Aidy Boothroyd's side? Well, if the FA did, the team England could use would be frankly ridiculously good.

Remember, three players 23 or younger can be included in an U21 side.

ENGLAND'S ELIGIBLE U21 XI

Most senior teams would struggle to beat that side.

Sancho, Hudson-Odoi and Marcus Rashford represent one of the most athletic and skilful attacking tridents you will find in football right now.

Declan Rice, Dele Alli and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a midfield befitting of a top-six Premier League side.

And at the back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Ben Chilwell are all stars at both Liverpool and Leicester, while Fikayo Tomori has starred on loan at Derby under Frank Lampard.

Then you have the highly-rated Angus Gunn in goal to complete the side. Not bad, eh?

To further sum up England's amazing depth at youth level, below is a list of players that haven't made our XI.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Demarai Gray, Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Reiss Nelson, Harry Winks, Phil Foden, Mason Mount and Ademola Lookman.

That's not all, but we think you get the picture and Southgate must be licking his lips at the young potential he can try and embed into his senior side in the coming years.
