If there's one thing you can guarantee about WWE is that there are literally no guarantees whatsoever.Vince McMahon is known for his last-minute rewrites of shows but one that happened before this week's SmackDown has altered the landscape of the company. There was a Fatal Four-Way match planned for the show, which would have determined the number-one contender to Asuka's Women's Championship. That bout was supposed to involve Carmella, Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose and Naomi, but rumours began to circulate an hour or so before the show went live that there was a big change to the card. They intensified when Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful stated that Asuka would be instead defending her title on the show and there would be no four-way to determine the Japanese star's WrestleMania opponent.

Indeed we did get a title match on the show, but surprisingly the Empress of Tomorrow would go up against Charlotte Flair.

Confusion indeed considering Flair is involved in Raw's title picture, in the main event no less of WrestleMania.

But what was the most shocking of all was that Flair actually won the match and captured the SmackDown title, her eighth main roster reign with a belt of some kind.

It certainly divided opinion amongst the fans on social media, with many believing Asuka has been harshly treated and been used as a pawn in Raw's title scene, and she now won't even get her own match for the title at the Show of Shows.

And spare a thought for the four women who would've had a shot at earning a singles match at WrestleMania but are now assumingly headed for the Women's Battle Royal if it is taking place.

Fellow SmackDown stars Naomi and Becky Lynch also had their say on the matter via Twitter.

The decision to place the belt on Charlotte certainly throws a spanner in the works when it comes to 'Mania, and there's a chance the two belts may be unified to create one women's division across two brands.

But it won't stop the fans being divided over the controversial events of SmackDown.
