England made light work of Montenegro during their Euro 2020 qualifier this week.

Fresh from their demolition job on the Czech Republic, the Three Lions scored five times for the second consecutive game to take all three points from Podgorica.

However, the home side caused a shock during the opening exchanges when Marko Vesovic found the net and looked to continue England's poor record in the country.

Goals from Michael Keane and Ross Barkley ensured that wouldn't be the case, though, by instigating an impressive comeback during the first-half.

Barkley bagged a second goal after half-time to put the game to bed, before strikes from Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling ensured it was something of a rout.

Montenegro 1-5 England

Stefan Savic was one of the Montenegro players on the receiving end of that drubbing and the Manchester City defender isn't very happy about the England players' behaviour.

In particular, he has taken a very public swipe at Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson in the aftermath of the result and he certainly didn't mince his words.

Savic has accused Henderson of showing 'ugly and disrespectful' behaviour, claiming that he sarcastically told one of the Montenegro players that they could have his shirt.

Savic slams Henderson

Per the Liverpool Echo, he explained: “We all know they are a much bigger team than us but sometimes I feel very bad to be playing the same sport as some players.

“Jordan Henderson, for example, sarcastically told our player after one normal clash he would give him a jersey after the match.

“It is ugly and disrespectful. I told him he was good enough not to act like that.

“We are proud and I’d rather play with this team and concede five goals and not with some arrogant players from England.”

Pretty strong words, to say the least.

Only Henderson will truly know why he refused to exchange shirts with said Montenegro player and only Savic understands the true extend of this alleged arrogance.

Nevertheless, it certainly gives an interesting and arguably unsavoury insight into what players are actually like on the pitch, as well as the kind of conversations that take place.

It's such a strongly-worded statement from Savic that you can certainly expect a reply and don't be surprised if Henderson comes out in defence of himself and the team.

At the end of the day, though, it was England who ran away victors on the day and Montenegro will have to sit tight before they can exact any form of revenge.
