Harry Kane is on top of the world right now.

The striker has just captained England to back-to-back victories in their first two Euro 2020 qualifiers and he's firing on all cylinders for Tottenham this season.

His club are also in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, leading the top four race and about to move into a stadium.

Exciting times indeed.

Kane is far from finished with football - he has so much to achieve and the potential to do it all. But this week, he was asked about what he plans to do when his career winds down.

And his answer will probably come as quite a surprise.

Rather than thinking about a move to China or even the MLS to play out the twilight years of his career, Kane instead wants to try his hand in the NFL.

"[The desire to play in the NFL] is real. Something that in 10 or 12 years I definitely want to try," the Spurs star told ESPN

Of course, a move to the NFL would be rather restrictive for an ex-footballer. The only position he could conceivably play is as a kicker.

Those players are perhaps the least fashionable in the entire sport and they also get paid far less than their teammates.

But for Kane, moving to the NFL wouldn't be about the money or the fame. It's all about the competition.

"It goes back to that drive to be the best," he continued.

"Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world?

"If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?"

Kane certainly raises a valid point.

He's already proven himself as one of the best footballers in Europe and if he did swap the Premier League for the NFL, that would certainly be a groundbreaking achievement.
