Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Vincent Kompany, Alan Shearer...

It's safe to say the Premier League has been blessed with some phenomenal players since its inception in 1992.

But equally, it's had its fair share of truly terrible players.

The likes of Radamel Falcao, Christian Poulsen and Eric Djemba-Djemba arrived to much fanfare but completely flopped at their respective clubs.

Falcao, for example, spent two seasons in England with Manchester United and Chelsea and only managed to score five goals in 36 Premier League appearances.

He was expected to terrorise defences having done so for Porto in Portugal, Atletico Madrid in Spain and Monaco in France, but he turned out to be awful.

Other contenders for worst player in Premier League history include Yaya Sanogo, Bruno Cheyrou and Jean-Alain Boumsong.

But who is THE worst?

Well, FourFourTwo have listed the 10 worst players in Premier League history and they've decided no one can top former Southampton striker Ali Dia.

10. Bosko Balaban - Aston Villa

9. Igors Stepanovs - Arsenal

8. Winston Bogarde - Chelsea

7. Bebe - Manchester United

6. Junior Lewis - Leicester City

5. Jozy Altidore - Sunderland & Hull City

4. Milton Nunez - Sunderland

3. Massimo Taibi - Manchester United

2. Savio - West Ham

1. Ali Dia - Southampton

For those who can't remember Dia or weren't alive when the Senegalese was around, he joined Southampton in 1996 after managing to convince them he was George Weah's cousin.

The story goes that Dia and a friend at university came up with the lie that he had also played for Paris Saint-Germain and Senegal and contacted numerous Premier League clubs.

Graeme Souness was Southampton manager at the time and took the bait, signing him on a one-month contract.

Unsurprisingly, Dia turned out to be absolutely rubbish and his one performance for the Saints was a disaster.

Dia was included in the squad for a game against Leeds and replaced Matt Le Tissier in the 32nd minute. Souness then took him off in the 85th minute, he was that bad.

"He ran around the pitch like Bambi on ice; it was very embarrassing to watch," said Le Tissier of Dia's display.

The now 53-year-old was released by Southampton just two weeks into his contract and played for Gateshead and Spennymoor United before falling off the face of the earth.
