Since putting pen to paper on a move to Hoffenheim, Andrej Kramaric has been in impressive goal-scoring form. The 27-year-old showed flashes of quality during his time at Leicester City, but just four strikes in 20 appearances quickly brought an end to his Premier League career. However, the Bundesliga has proven a far happier hunting ground for the Croatian international, who has already reached a half-century of goals in Germany. And this season has proven particularly profitable for Kramaric, with the Hoffenheim man rubbing shoulders with Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus and Luka Jovic in the goal-scoring charts.Nevertheless, upon the return to club action after the international break, it was his teammate Ishak Belfodil making the headlines during a 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Hoffenheim 4-1 Bayer Leverkusen

A brace from the Algerian forward as well as a Sven Bender own goal fired Hoffenheim into a 3-1 lead, neutralising a first-half equaliser from Kevin Volland.

As a result, Belfodil had the opportunity to score the first hat-trick of his career and he came just millimetres from achieving that feat less than 20 minutes later.

The 27-year-old raced through on goal, prodded the ball past Lukas Hradecky but saw his hopes of taking home the match ball evaporate as Kramaric chased down the shot.

Kramaric 'steals' the goal

Despite the original effort clearly being on target, the former Leicester man denied his teammate the hat-trick by touching the ball just milliseconds before it crossed the line.

That's got to sting for Belfodil and it will probably go down as the easiest finish of Kramaric's career, bearing in mind it was almost physically impossible to miss.

Take a look at the full clip down below in all its shamelessness:

Was that a proud finish, Andrej?

Ok, we're pretty sure the Croatian intended to make sure the ball passed the line but it must have crossed his mind to shepherd it in by the time he'd chased it down.

Roberto Firmino certainly wouldn't have done the same thing, especially after he opted against 'stealing' a goal from Sadio Mane in 2017 that could have earned him a handsome bonus.

However, we're not sure the same can be said for most Sunday League teams, who almost always have that one striker who will poach for goals in all their shapes and forms.

There's nothing quite like ending a scoring drought or working towards your local league's Golden Boot than by swooping in when the ball is already goal-bound.

As far as Hoffenheim are concerned, though, the ball crossed the line regardless and it wrapped up an impressive victory on the night. Three points but not three goals for Belfodil.
