Antoine Griezmann has become part of the furniture at Atletico Madrid and seen as Diego Simeone's most prized possession.

The Frenchman has bagged 130 goals in 248 games in all competitions for Atleti over a five-year period and at 28-year-old should be at his ultimate prime.

Every season rumours arise about the striker leaving the club with Manchester United and Inter Milan known to be heavily interested.

The French international has finished 3rd in the Ballon d'Or twice (2016, 2018), whilst also winning the World Cup with France and the Europa League with Atletico.

With such competition for the La Liga title in Barcelona and a resurgent Real Madrid, is it realistic to expect a trophy-laden future at Atletico for Griezmann?

Whether it is or not, the former Real Sociedad man has committed his future to the club following talks with manager Simeone, per AS.

Griezmann's release clause drops to £100 million in the summer and in the current financial climate in football, that sum for a 28-year-old of Griezmann's quality would be an absolute steal.

The club had agreed to facilitate a possible exit from July 1st due to ongoing rumours of his departure.

The news that he has no intentions of leaving in the summer is a blow to Manchester United and their fans, with Griezmann being on the list of United's many targets.

The friendship between Griezmann and his French compatriot Paul Pogba was the main link that seemed to make the move a possibility but this has now been shut down.

The strikers goal now will be to surely topple Luis Aragones' scoring record of 172 with Griezmann realistically just a couple of seasons away from overtaking, currently sitting in fifth 42 goals behind.
