Kash Ali was confronted by a furious thug and showered in beer after being disqualified for biting former heavyweight boxing champion David Price.Fans at the M&S Bank Arena who came in numbers to support Liverpool's own David Price did not hold back as they launched anything they could get hold of in the direction of Ali as he and the five other security guards escorting him ducked for cover. And in videos being circulated all over the web - scroll down to see - we can see a bald man in a visible red top having to be held back after trying to confront Ali one-to-one. Price, 35, landed a stinging shot on undefeated 27-year-old Ali in round five, prompting a grapple.Ali fell on top of the Liverpudlian and appeared to bite Price near his rib cage.

The referee, Mark Lyson, who had earlier docked Ali a point for hitting the back of Price’s head, immediately disqualified him and awarded the victory to Price, who had been ahead on the scorecards.

A British Boxing Board of Control spokesperson told BBC Sport that Ali would appear before its central area council "in the future", where he is likely to face further sanction and the British Boxing Board Of Control immediately announced that they had withheld Ali's purse.

Ali later apologised after the fight, labelling his actions in the ring 'ridiculous'.

He told iFL TV: “I thought it was a good fight, I had him hurt in the fifth, I could’ve stopped him, I wrestled him down and it was a stupid thing what I did, ridiculous.

“There’s no excuses for it, I think just the build up to the fight, it was my first time I’ve boxed on the big stage, I was so pumped up, I was ready to fight, the street stupid mentality just kicked in it was stupid."

Price later revealed that Ali had requested an immediate rematch, but insisted that he had no intention of fighting the Birmingham-born boxer again.

Sitting ringside, the Liverpudlian heavyweight said: "I hurt him to the body just before the final bite he took.

"He did a couple early on and I thought he had lost his head completely.

"He said he wanted a rematch, but I don’t want to share a ring with an animal like that again.

"The main thing is that I move forward. I will take any win, and now we move on."

The result extended Price's record to 24 wins and six defeats and was the first defeat of Ali's 16-fight career.

In 2009, British boxer Dereck Chisora was suspended for four months and fined £2,500 for biting Paul Butlin. Five years later, Wadi Camacho bit Welshman Craig Kennedy on his neck, though the Spaniard did not receive a ban.

In 1999, British middleweight Adrian Dodson was banned for 18 months and fined £1,000 for biting Canadian Alain Bonnamie.

The sport's most notorious biting incident also came in 1999, when Mike Tyson bit off part of fellow American Evander Holyfield's ear and subsequently lost his boxing licence, though it was later reinstated.
