Real Madrid's Raphael Varane is keen to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The French centre-back has made it clear behind-the-scenes that he is after a move and has informed staff of his desires, per AS.

Los Blancos now find themselves in a rather sticky situation, despite the fact a €50m deal has already been agreed for Porto defender Eder Militao.

Varane is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world football, enjoying a hugely successful 2018.

He won his third consecutive Champions League with Real Madrid and then went on to play an instrumental role in France's World Cup win.

Many actually tipped Varane to win the Ballon d'Or for his efforts, but he was pipped to the accolade by teammate Luka Modric.

But it seems his success with Les Bleus out in Russia has played a major role in his desire to leave the club.

In another report from AS, Varane was reportedly left annoyed by the fact that Real did not pay tribute to his success on the international stage.

The fact his achievements were overshadowed by Modric - who was voted the best player at the World Cup - did not exactly go down well in the Frenchman's camp.

Even Zinedine Zidane's return to the club has not changed Varane's mind as of yet.

Zidane played a key role in bringing Varane to Madrid from Lens back in 2011 and he evidently faces an uphill battle to keep him at the club.

The new Real boss has reportedly already identified his ideal replacement in Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, which suggests he knows Varane is off in the summer.

Florentino Perez, however, would prefer to pursue Atletico Madrid's Jose Maria Gimenez.

There is also Inter's Milan Skriniar, who has been linked with Real in recent days by Goal.
