Chelsea beat Cardiff 2-1 on Sunday to boost their top-four hopes and leave their opponents staring at relegation.

The win saw Chelsea draw level on points with Arsenal and go to within one point of Tottenham and Manchester United.

As for Cardiff, they’re now five points adrift of safety after that defeat.

But the scoreline alone doesn’t tell the full story.

Cardiff took the lead just after half-time through Victor Camarasa’s strike.

But Chelsea’s 84th-minute equaliser was controversial to say the least,

Willian’s corner was flicked on by Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, who was standing two yards offside, scored.

How did assistant referee Eddie Smart miss it?

Well, Jamie Carragher did his best to find out.

On Monday Night Football before Arsenal vs Newcastle, Carragher used a virtual reality headset to discover the exact view that Smart had.

And in fairness to him, virtual reality shows he view was blocked by Willian and couldn’t see Azpiliceuta standing in an offside position. It also happened extremely quickly and Smart wasn't able to get himself into the correct position quick enough.

But that’s no consolation for Cardiff boss Neil Warnock.

After the match, he was understandably furious with the decision to allow Chelsea’s equaliser to stand.

"The biggest and best league in the world but probably the worst officials at the minute," he said.

"Against the big teams, you have to have VAR because you don't get the big decisions. The equalising goal is the winning goal really, and if you can't see across the line and see offside I don't know why we are in the game."
